Cultural Diplomacy & Creative Industry Mission
In 2024, I travelled to Zimbabwe for a landmark cultural diplomacy mission — a journey that deepened ties across heritage, tourism, music, and the creative economy. Zimbabwe is a nation rich in history, beauty, talent, and resilience, and this visit offered an intimate look into its creative potential and its future.
Hosted alongside Nyaradzo Group and AfriLegacy, the mission included engagements with business leaders, artists, cultural custodians, and community builders across Harare, Kariba, and Victoria Falls. From strategic meetings to on-the-ground cultural immersion, the experience reinforced Zimbabwe’s growing influence in Africa’s creative landscape.
Creative Industry Engagement
The mission involved high-impact conversations with leading artists and cultural innovators including Jah Prayzah, Baba Harare, and key cultural institutions. We explored pathways for international touring, talent development, global collaborations, and new revenue opportunities for Zimbabwean creatives.
Tourism, Heritage & Natural Wonders
A core part of the mission was experiencing Zimbabwe’s breathtaking tourism offerings:
• Victoria Falls — one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World
• Kariba — the home of lake culture and community tourism
• Harare — a fast-growing hub of arts, culture, and enterprise
These experiences highlighted Zimbabwe’s enormous potential for global tourism integration
and Afrotourism strategy.
Business & Strategic Meetings
The mission also included engagements with business and media stakeholders, cultural
organisations, and community leaders to discuss sustainable partnerships in:
• Creative entrepreneurship
• Event and festival development
• Diaspora engagement
• Tourism and hospitality
• Cultural preservation and storytelling
Cultural Immersion
From Zimbabwean cuisine to traditional music, crafts, and everyday community life, the mission offered a holistic experience of Zimbabwe’s identity. We visited museums, cultural centres, live performances, and community hubs documenting the beauty and power of Zimbabwean culture.
This mission strengthened bonds between Zimbabwe and the diaspora, opening new pathways for collaboration in music, tourism, business, and cultural storytelling. Zimbabwe is a cultural powerhouse, and this journey was a reminder of the country’s global potential and its key role in Africa’s creative future.
