Afro Nation Portugal 2024 — Praia da Rocha, Portimão
A sun-soaked edition on Portugal’s Algarve Coast, bringing Afrobeats, Amapiano and global Black music to one of Europe’s most iconic beach stages.
From 26–28 June 2024, Afro Nation returned to Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Portugal, for another landmark
chapter in its beach festival story. The 2024 edition pushed the festival’s global footprint even further, with a
headline appearance from Nicki Minaj alongside a new wave of African and diaspora stars including
Rema, Fally Ipupa, Odumodublvck, DBN Gogo, Skyla Tylaa, KMAT and more.
Against the backdrop of the Atlantic coastline, the festival blended Afrobeats and Amapiano with rap, R&B and global
club sounds, continuing Afro Nation’s mission to centre African music and culture in a world-class live setting. With
its trademark beachside staging, sunset performances and cashless wristband system, Afro Nation
Portugal 2024 reinforced the brand’s position as one of the premier summer destinations for fans of African and
diaspora music worldwide.

Afro Nation Portugal 2024 built on years of growth in Portimão, offering a multi-stage experience where fans could move
from daytime beach energy to late-night headline sets. Curated around Afrobeats and Amapiano, the lineup connected
continental African acts with international collaborators, showcasing how the sound of the continent now anchors the
global summer festival calendar.
Lineup & Sound
The presence of Nicki Minaj as a headliner signalled a powerful crossover between mainstream rap/pop and the
Afro Nation ecosystem. Alongside her, artists like Rema, Fally Ipupa, Odumodublvck, DBN Gogo,
Skyla Tylaa and KMAT brought a mix of Afrobeats, Amapiano, Congolese rumba, street rap and club sounds,
reflecting the breadth of contemporary African and diaspora music.
Experience & Atmosphere
As with previous editions, the 2024 festival leaned into Afro Nation’s signature production: oceanside stages, giant
video screens, daytime parties rolling into night, and a fully cashless wristband system for food, drinks and
merch. The result was a seamless, high-energy experience that attracted travellers from across Europe, Africa, North
America and beyond — cementing Afro Nation Portugal as a flagship stop in the global Afrobeats festival circuit.
