Afro Nation Ghana 2022

A two day homecoming at Black Star Square that brought the global diaspora back to Ghana in a celebration of Afrobeats, Black culture and Black joy.

Afro Nation Ghana 2022 took place on 29–30 December 2022 at Black Star Square on the historic Marine Drive in Accra. Originally planned for 2020 and postponed due to the pandemic, its return marked a significant reunion for fans, artists and cultural leaders from Africa and the diaspora.

Headlined by Meek Mill, Davido and other major stars, the festival curated a lineup of Afrobeats and global Black music that reflected Ghana's growing role as a cultural crossroads. The event reinforced Ghana as a key destination for end of year pilgrimage, culture, and connection.

Across two nights, Afro Nation Ghana brought together leading Afrobeats artists from across Africa and the diaspora. Set against the symbolism of Black Star Square, the festival was designed as both a live music experience and a cultural statement about Ghana's role in connecting global Black communities.
The festival was created to bring the diaspora back "home" to Ghana for a year end celebration of Black culture and Black joy. Beyond the main stage, it served as a meeting point for creatives, entrepreneurs, and fans from across the world who are invested in Afrobeats, African identity and Pan African connectivity.
Produced with local teams and suppliers, Afro Nation Ghana 2022 was designed to support the cultural and tourism economy in Accra. The event prioritised local vendors, on ground jobs and long term visibility for Ghana as a destination for festivals, travel and creative industry growth.
Afro Nation Ghana 2022 stands as a key chapter in the story of Afrobeats and festival culture on the continent. It strengthened Ghana's position on the global festival map and deepened the relationship between the country, its creative industries and the wider Black diaspora.
